That's like dismissing North Korea's situation five years ago by saying Kim Jong-Il wouldn't be around forever. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't existComment

Saddam planned, or had started, to sell oil in Euros instead of Dollars.
Gadaffi had grand ideas to found a pan-African bank.
But as far as the Septics are concerned, protecting the dollar's reserve currency status status is vital, come what may, and both of thesee developments if unchecked might have compromised that.
It isn't really primarily "about the oil" anymore, as everyone assumes is axiomatic (and all this stuff about democracy and human rights is just a load of hot air for the consumption of useful idiots)
P.S. The Iranians and Russkies also trade oil in Euros ..Work in the public sector? Read the IR35 FAQ hereComment

And I'm still not seeing the urgency that meant no exit strategy and no state-building strategy which might have prevented the emergence of Daesh or at least provided better local capability for containing it.Last edited by seanraaron; 25 January 2016, 16:07.Comment

Have a read up on Al-Anfal and ask yourself why it was recognised as an act of genocide. Impressive for no usable air force. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't existComment
