Whether or not it is idiotic depends on your overriding goals.

Gadaffi had grand ideas to found a pan-African bank.

But as far as the Septics are concerned, protecting the dollar's reserve currency status status is vital, come what may, and both of thesee developments if unchecked might have compromised that.

The man had no control over the northern or southern parts of the country, no missile capability and no usable Air Force - what was the threat posed by him or his descendants, exactly?

So what you're saying is the second Iraq war was totally justified because Saddam Hussein was a bad man and the fact that the aftermath was totally arsed up by the US and the UK isn't important, even if it gave a nice place for Islamic State to take root.

Have you not read any European history? Marginalising and massacring non-natives has been a constant. The fact that England and France haven't had a war in over a century is an anomaly as is the tolerance of Jews. Muslims don't have to be terrorists for Europeans to fear and hate them - just look at the bs Turkish accession was met with BEFORE Erdoğan starting becoming an autocrat.

So what. Europe's peace is thanks to NATO not the EU.
