Whatever you do avoid Sony Android TVs. total and utter garbage. Missing features 8 months after launch, sh*te software, constant crashing and an utter disregard for their customers.

Here's an entertaining link to a 3700+ reply thread on how utterly cr*p they are: https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/tele...s/td-p/1949079

Sony used to be the gold standard. Nowadays they're worse than the cheap chinese garbage you can buy in supermarkets.

Assuming a TV lasts at least 10 years, and given that 4K broadcasting is starting now, I think it would make sense to buy 4K now, unless you've determined that it's something you'll never need/want. (I assume that 4K versus HD means you can have double the screen size for a given distance, however I don't have space for a bigger screen, and don't want to move the sofa forward to within touching distance of the screen, so not convinced 4K offers any benefits to me.)

Erm.. there is still no UHD/4k broadcast standard.

4k with HDR and 265 decoder seems like reasonably safe bet, HOWEVER there is a question of refresh rates - current are rather low, I am leaning towards waiting until they get 4k TV with at least 100 Hertz refresh rate and getting reasonably finalised broadcast standard.
