Calling them watermelons is not an insult, dopey. It's simply referring to the idea that all of the communists turned to the green movement after the fall of communism. Green on the outside, red in the inside.

The difference with O'Neill and say frank Field is that their left wing view of the world is not driven by a desire to control and manipulate others particularly the rich . Quite unlike most left wingers like Corbyn, Monbiot etc theirs is a world of social mobility and making the fruits of capitalism available to all.

Calling someone something they are happy to be is not very useful as an insult, is it?
Notice all the kids in the playground calling other boys 'gaylords'.
Notice how few run around calling other boys 'straighlords'.

Not understanding this is what makes you dopey and moronic, which are useful insults - because people typically don't feel happy about being moronic & dopey.

Of course, I wasn't aiming the watermelon comment at you. It was in response to this:

My "issue" is with those that have used it pursue their own agendas - mostly anti capitalism control freaks/socialists.
            but if the shoe fits...

You may thank me for effectively doubling your IQ later (that was an insult, btw).

BS. The term is used by those on the libertarian right to misrepresent the motives of environmentalists

Watermelon is a word that tells you what is wrong with the climate change debate.
For some libertarians, it is the insult that expresses what greenies and climate scientists are really up to. Behind all the acronyms and the jargon, they say, is a conspiracy to promote a nakedly political aim – anti-big business; anti-free market; pro-tax increases. In short, green on the outside but red on the inside.
Pretending not to understand this demonstrates the fragility of your self-awarded superiority.

              You're welcome.
