2015 teacher starting salary - 25 grand, average house price 195000, interest rates 5%

my Father was a Doctor, no way could you afford a nice place with land a generation ago; only if you ran a private practice in Harley Street.

We lived in the same street as the teachers, you needed two earners to live in a nice house.

Why do you always use 1990? You pick an extreme to try and make a point.

1985 teachers average salary £25k average house £34k, rates 11%

2014 teachers average salary £55k average house £195k rates .5%

Even then he has shown himself up.

Average house price moves from 6x salary to 7.8x salary and deposit requirements? Just shy of a year's wage.
        I'm a smug bastard.

As you will see 1990 is an extreme - to try and prove a point.

              Interest rates!

              5% vs 15%

Now compare the monthly morgage payments.
