That said I thought someone might have linked one of the other threads...

Number of UK IT work permits surges 56%

The number of IT professionals coming to the UK from outside the EU has increased by 13% in the last year, representing the largest influx since the end of the recession.

In fact, 34,229 non-EU IT professionals entered the UK in 2014, up from 30,189 in the previous year. This compares with almost 25,000 in 2012; 21,000 in 2011 and 21,980 in 2010, official figures show.
132.3K coming in but a decline of 33% of people taking ICT apprenticeships to 13k this year... We are totally screwed.

Its absolutely disgraceful but the last time I made such a comment, I got pulled by admin. Such a shame that commenting on to wanting protection for UK workforce's employment position is deemed racist by some.
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

            Ehum... really? Removed the comment?

There are work permits and visas for a reason. Every country has it.
ICT is an immigration backdoor that makes the housing shortage problem and unemployment worse among the indigenous population. And FYI, I am not British myself.

Investment Banks are using this as well now even Accenture quite openly bring over Indian IT workers on £100 a day to do work which is around £500-600 a day in the open marketplace. Sooner or later it will affect most UK IT contractors. They are plugging a perceived IT skills gap which does not even exist. The harsh reailty is they are plugging a profit margin gap which does exist

All this has got nothing to do with immigration or Indians in particular. There is no point starting to create hatred against the foreigners.
Its all to do with what businesses are, and what they do.
The main goal of a business is to increase its profits, and they will employ whatever it takes to get there - including hiring cheap labour.

This is what exactly you and I will be doing too - if you are a proper business, and not some "disguised employee" type contractor (in which case I understand why these kinds of people generally don't see the point of why businesses do this).

If the local labour force was cheaper - for example, these same businesses will hire only local / British labour, not Indians.
If the local labour had the accent and social skills necessary to do a particular job, then the businesses will hire local force/British force only, not Indians.

So I think the whole idea of creating some thread to bash foreigners in general is no good for us Brits, and it does not solve anything for us.
We need a solution, and for that - we need businesses to take on some social responsibilities too - i.e. hiring (and training them as well if need be) the local British workers, rather than simply only aiming for increasing their bottom line.

So, I think the problem lies with the local British Businesses - who are going for the Indians, not the other way around.

That's not why you got pulled. You were pulled for couching the comment in terms that could be construed as racist. The comment itself is fine, which is why you comment this time hasn't been pulled.

BA say that it's to make savings that can be passed on to the customers. Unfortunately, as any fule kno, the cheapest way to outsource to some countries is to pay the service provider a retainer and continue to do the work yourself. My experience (over the past 15 years) is that when the work is outsourced to India, for example, it costs more and takes longer - and isn't very high quality. Competency and initiative levels seem to be far lower than you'd find in, for example, Europe. I think it's a cultural thing.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

bring over Indian IT workers on £100 a day
The ones I worked with ended up with £30 PD in their pockets. I believe that they are charged out at a lot more than £100 PD these days.

They can bring over as many as they like, but there will always be a need for true specialist knowledge.

a decline of 33% of people taking ICT apprenticeships to 13k this year... We are totally screwed.
Unfortunately, the drop has been occurring for a while.
It has been something I have been banging on about for the last 10 years, or so.

Seems so wrong, but, maybe the perception was that all IT work will end up offshored anyway, so, no need to teach British children the skills.
