Cure for back pain

Possibly, but I can't imagine my wife being too happy me slapping one of these things on her cervix as she's mid contractions...If you think my attitude stinks, you should smell my fingers. -
I had bad shoulder ache for a while. Went to the doc's and a week of low dosage Diazepam and high dosage painkillers sorted it....my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...

I have had the same problem for a while. I actually found going to a local chirophacter worked for me. The doc just gives pain killers which to me is a waste of time. What happens in General, stays in General. You know what they say about assumptions!Comment

The Doctor's right, waste of time going to him with back pain, especially if you walk into his surgery, its the ones that can't move their legs that interest the Doctors.
You just need patience, if its really bad just lie on your back for a few days.
It'll will be painful for the next few weeks.I'm alright JackComment

Have you tried the vets. If they think you're knackered your family can have you put to sleep and they can have a holiday on the insurance...What happens in General, stays in General. You know what they say about assumptions!Comment

From a medical point of view there are three treatments depending on the severity.
1. Aspirin
2. Walking stick
3. WheelchairI'm alright JackComment

I've had this a few times before, once a few months back. Neurophen is the best painkiller for it. Find a comfortable position that doesnt strain your back or any other muscles - usually lying on the sofa with feet raised as already mentioned. Stay there. Dont move around unless you absolutely have to.
The Diazapam the A&E doc gave yuo will help. As well as being an anti-depressant it's also a mild relaxant that will help relieve the tension in the muscles.
Once it has cleared up work on the back and abdomen fitness. Sit ups *ARE NOT A GOOD IDEA* they place excessive strain on the lower back and spine.
Staight Leg Dead Lift - Simple bending and touching your toes, or as near as you can, to start with.
Leg crunches - lie flat on your back and bring your knees towards your chest. Much better than normal crunches / sit ups as the back stays stable and supported.
Superman - Lay face down with arms and legs outstreached. Raise opposite arm and leg together. i.e. right arm/left leg and vice versa.
For each excercise repeat 10 times. rest 30 for seconds. repeat 3 times in total.
Between each excersise rest for 3 mins.
Start gently and if it hurts *STOP*.Last edited by DaveB; 10 October 2006, 14:02."Being nice costs nothing and sometimes gets you extra bacon" - Pondlife.Comment
