24 day hung shoulder of lamb - as LB says, from the local butchers - stuffed with slivers of garlic and rosemary spears, basted with a redcurrent jelly sauce to give a nice, crispy, sweet coating.

Roast potatoes with thyme and blanched french beans from the farm shop. Homemade mango smoothies afterwards.

Bottle of Wits End McLaren Vale shiraz which fortunately the wife wasn't too keen on. Shame to let it go to waste...

Bolognese sauce (prime Scottish mince, none of yer English muck), penne pasta, a tomato and onion side salad with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, herbs and green pesto, some freshly grated parmesan, and a nice chilled Chablis.

And that's a permie supper, I should point out. However, I may soon be tempted back to the fold, if a gig in Amsterdam comes off.

Glad to see you're a shoulder man, hyperD. My favourite cut of lamb. So much flavour and half the price of leg. Mind you, I like a nice stuffed breast and a good shank as well.

Yesterday was breast of gressingham duck, rubbed with schezuan pepper and pan fried with a red wine and black cherry sauce, mustard mash and a medley of red white and green cabbage, with a 2001 Pomerol. Bloody lovely.

But apart from the wine, I was just practising for an upcoming dinner: more usually it's a straight roast with all the usual bits

Always been a leg man myself (Fnarr Fnarr) as I like it cooked nicely pink and I find leg lends itself better to that than shoulder.
