Not being funny but if the media are going to bull England up as world beaters then you've got to expect a bit of stick.

I'm sorry but sense of humour is needed by the English at times. Suck it up, take the stick, laugh it off and don't act like little girls. How many times do the welsh get called sheep shaggers? We don't cry about it.

I've got English friends (best man at my wedding), I work in England. It is all just banter.

I'm proud to say that I've very rarely seen any serious anti-English abuse at rugby EVER. I've got a friend who frequently comes to Cardiff to watch Wales v England and wears a white jersey.

Yes, there is a lot of stick given but hey ho. Maybe only once ever did my friend get treated badly and then I stepped it to defend them against some drunk nobhead. And I always will. BUT if you're going to get offended because theres lot of noisy smelly welsh people around taking the p*ss then stay home.

Just be grateful you're not a football supporter in the wrong pub, in the wrong city, wearing the wrong jersey, in England where you're possibly going to get a good pasting.
You are probably right. But with the amount of time I spend in Wales the amount of banter depresses me.

I wish the English got the same treatment that the Welsh get in England.

In 2016 ex-mrs-bp-2 and I move to Bexhill. I intend never to visit Wales again. I made the same promise about IKEA in 2007 and have kept that promise...

BP - I live in Wales and work in England. I get called sheep shagger on an almost daily basis! Not bothered.

To be fair, the English as a nation do set themselves up for it a little bit. OK maybe not the people themselves but certainly the media. There is way too much focus on England, England, and England. Just look at the TV and newspaper coverage - British newspapers and TV stations will commit probably 80% of their time/space to just England (with the rest shared between Wales, Scotland, N Ireland). And quite often this coverage focuses on how England are going to win this and win that.

Its hardly surprising the rest of us can't resist a bit of pisstaking when it all goes wrong is it? Thing is its not just the welsh - its everyone in the world!

If the focus is on England and you object then why are you working here? The English are comfortable with who they are and therefore are not bothered about whether they lose at something or have the p*ss taken out of them. The Welsh on the other hand and the Scots for that matter wail about the English and have a constant need to latch onto anything that makes them look superior - usually this is embodied by them wanting to see England fail at something.

The reason why England is so much the focus of attention is because it is such a great country and it even gives you Welshies jobs. No one is really interested in wales and it has no entitlement to attention particularly when its own people cannot earn a decent living unless they leave.

                I don't think that's true at all.

The English are ashamed to feel proud of their country and largely expect their teams to underperform. They are constantly waiting to turn on their own, quicker to tear them down than to support and build them up.

                Self-loathing, you might say

Fair point Thanks for pointing out how I contradict myself

To be fair I think this is different from having an inferiority complex. It is probably how the left feel about the fact that the UK and England in particular is so superior to other countries.

You're missing the point completely. I dont object to England or English people....

The media coverage is mildly irritating I will admit but bottom line is I like taking the piss. But thats just it - there are 'some' English who can't take it.

BTW - I haven't really left wales. I just cross the border every morning and evening.
