Now, I never said I didn't take sick days. :-)What happens in General, stays in General. You know what they say about assumptions! -
I have vague recollections of getting injections at school. Maybe it was just the BCG but I am not sure. Maybe some schools/councils give it to kids and others don't?Originally posted by psychocandy View PostNah. You can get it free on the NHS only if you're in one of the at risk groups I think. Elderly, asthma etc.
Wife gets it for free, can't recall if that's because she's a teacher or because she has asthma (or maybe both).Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

A Flu jab is a modern thing surely, so unless you're 12, you probably didn't get one at school.
I imagine I'll be able to get one for free, if I want it, but I'm not sure it's a good idea and people say the jab can make you ill. I've probably never had flu, but then my immune system works a bit too well.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.Comment

Given that the NHS recommendations haven't changed for years and the stock is fresh every year, they must by your argument have been over-ordering every year. You'd think they might have noticed they were doing that, and stopped.Originally posted by MrMarkyMark View PostBiggest waste of time ever, as flu mutates all the time.
I know a number of people that have been ill for months after taking it.
We are being given the hard sell on it due to the NHS ordering too much stock.
For those reasons I'm out.
The reason the stock is fresh every year is that it's a different vaccine every year, because flu mutates all the time. So one point there, even if you rather missed the point.
And given that people being ill costs the NHS money, I doubt they'd keep on recommending it if it made people ill for months.
But if you have solid evidence that the vaccine is causing adverse medical consequences that outweigh the benefits, you really should be writing up your data and submitting your findings to the British Medical Journal ASAP.Comment

My mother worked in a university hospital research lab in Liverpool in the early Fifties that was refining the process of incubating the virus in eggs, so it's been around for a long time. But I don't think it was available in sufficient quantities to vaccinate every schoolchild every year, and even now it's only recommended for schoolchildren in years one and two: Who should have the flu vaccine? - Vaccinations - NHS ChoicesOriginally posted by VectraMan View PostA Flu jab is a modern thing surely, so unless you're 12, you probably didn't get one at school.

Is there a manflu vaccine, apart from doing a Bruce Jenner?“Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.”Comment

I get one every year because why wouldn't I, flu is horrible and I've had it multiple times. When I have the flu I would happily pay a few hundred quid to be instantly cured, so 10 quid a year is a bargain even if it only protects me once in my lifetime.Unless you're the lead dog, the scenery never changes.
