Immigration or humanitarian crisis?

So many posts on facebook about this. It's a truly awful situation. Which of us wouldn't do the same if our families (or ourselves) were threatened?

I'm not religious, but I do believe we're all one family and should look out for each other.

Protecting our way of life is laudable, but how can we justify it?

Had my socialist mate bending my ear last weekend. Scrap Trident and build housing for refugees. Need jobs? House building! (Or something like that - we were pretty drunk!)

we cannot have them all come here without ruining or standard of living. There are hundreds of millions who want to come here.

All the time there is a chance of them getting here then they will do dangerous things to come here. They believe it is so much better than at home even if home is somewhere relatively safe. Stop accepting asylum seekers in the UK unless they have complied with the Dublin agreement. Accept refugees only from a vetted pool from the EU.

We can help fix their countries and provide them with safe refuge in countries close by. If that means deploying the Army around refugee camps and spending a good portion of our GDP to save lives then fine, currently we only buy African princes new BMWs.

Some things are too horrible to contemplate but logic not feeling is needed to fix issues.

Selling them weapons? Deliberately destabilising their country to sell more weps to either/any side?

Same in East Ukraine, it's not rocket science. USA/friends (i.e. UK) are doing this all over the world. Can you not see it? Destabilising admittedly crap regimes in the first place to sell weps to both sides and gain the upper hand generally - divide and rule - simples!
