Jezzy is turning out to be a bit of a damped firebrand though. Hardly the politician with backbone the UK needs.

He's anti-war and wants to build bridges rather than keep us in a state of perpetual conflict.

Obviously the neocon/fox news/military industrial complex types are going mental.

The 'alignment with terrorist' angle will probably feature heavily in the Murdoch onslaught. Somehow I don't think it will slow him down though. People are so fed up with the status quo that they'll listen to what he has to say over the MSM and terrified corrupt politicians...

      It's all good

If by that you mean he's stuck to discussing policies (whether you agree with them or not), is passionate about those policies and has not indulged in mud slinging and personal attacks, then yes. Completely Spineless.

Let's say he becomes leader, and takes Labour back into socialism. Who's to say that this wouldn't have resonance with the yoof of today, and in 2020, a socialist government gets into power?

I don't think it will happen, btw.

Not so sure. The people who vote now are, by and large, a minority made up of the better off. The vast majority, including those who are poor, on low incomes, are reliant on the state in some way or are otherwise disenfranchised have had no incentive to vote for years. They can't see the difference between Labour and Tory and dont see the point because as far as they are concerned it wont change anything.

What Corbyn is doing is making a clear disticnction between his view of what the Labour Party should be and what the Tories represent. He is offering people a choice and in doing so giving them a reason to vote. He is saying "Vote for me and I will change things." If he follows through on that and maintains the message then there is a very good chance that he will not only fight the next election but actually have a chance of winning it.

Right now Labour have no chance. There is no reason to vote for any of the other leadership candidates and certainly nothing to choose one over another, and no reason to vote Labour in an election. You might as well vote Conservative or not bother. The end result will be the same.

Need a socialist party to have a socialist government. We've got three dull-as-ditchwater central/populist parties each with minor differences and different masters behind the scenes.

I like the idea of a big dampening down on global conflict. Not out of any underlying hippy tendancies but because the USA would have to build a proper success story rather than relying on the arms race.

Corbyn says Hezbollah are his friends

It's looking likely Corbyn will get elected labour leader, this may well transform the party, and give the young and disenfranchised a voice against the boomer and elderly focused Center right Tories. Perhaps they might even win the next general.

I then look at the Tories, and wonder if a 'young conservative' movement might gain traction.

                    Boomers beware!

Agree with everything except this. I believe the "money in politics" is the same regardless of who is in power. This would explain why there is really no difference between the Tories and New labour. Whether it's Tony Blair or David Cameron we still get a status quo of big business pulling the strings, being a 'lieutenant' of US foreign policy, privatisation, austerity, mega rich tax avoidance, bank bailouts (maybe bail -ins coming soon)...

Corbyn offers complete change that resonates with a lot of people, it's also happening in Europe and in the US with Trump and Bernie Sanders grabbing the hearts and minds over the same old same old corporate owned puppets waffling their same old waffle.

These are interesting times for sure - not sure how the "1%" are going to keep this in check but it will be ugly for sure...
