    Petrol + big 4x4 = joke.

e.g. 5.7L Jeep decided to block a few cars on my drive to work this morning. Back window was full of stickers about looking out for horses and supporting hunting, obscuring his ability to notice the queue building up behind him in the overtaking lane. When he eventually pulled over he gave me a dirty look and suddenly accelerated. My puny 3L diesel (also 4wd) dropped down to 6th and glided past him. I think he was a tad upset by that.

...But then again, if you're only choosing it to annoy your neighbour, go petrol, go big, but don't come on here complaining about 10mpg and inability to pull teeth at low revs.
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

Bloody hell Dim Prawn, I've just eaten.

Personally I like the look of the Lexus RX but I'm leaning towards a Q7 from an all-round package point of view if I go with a 4x4. The seven-seater idea would be good for days out with family.

See I think both the Q7 and the RX are a bit fugly, but there's no denying the ability of this:

The only other one is the new shape Range Rover Sport. Need the blacked out rear windows to not still be an old man's car though.

A little bit related to the topic but is it even worth getting an RAC/AA inspection of a second hand car, especially a Porsche?

If you're buying from a main dealer, probably not.

Yeah sorry should have added private seller. Off to see a Porsche Cayman on Saturday if all goes well wondering if getting the RAC in for inspection is worth it.

Personally I wouldn't. If it has main dealer service history, do a car check for insurance claims, outstanding finance and a thorough test drive and look at everything in lots of detail.
