    Amen.
I'm not falling for that, you must be a sockie taking the piss.
I'm not even an atheist so much as I am an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches, and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. [Christopher Hitchens]

The point is that, although people have joked about it, there *is* a lot of ideological baggage around in Labour at the moment. Call it marxist-atheism if you want, or just Marxism (since the Lenninist interpretation of Marxism includes atheism by default). Point is, people never like ideological baggage, left or right.

      Personally I prefer Groucho Marxism.

Excellent ! Speaking of Groucho-Atheism I rather liked this quote

" I have principles. And if you don't like them - I have others."

And very well then - I shall settle for the term "Marxism."

PS Wasn't Millibrand an Atheist ? Or should I say ... oh dash it all Im off for a game of polo - Toodles !!!

Tristram Hunt is about the only one of them I consider palatable, though I doubt his 'patrician' background is what Labour will be after at this point. That said, most of them hail from a similar background anyway.

There is a lot of ideological baggage around in the Tories as well.

In fact the only party with no overt ideology is the Lib Dems and look what happened to them....

He described himself as an Atheist Jew (or maybe it was Jewish Atheist).

So he's saying ethnically he is Jewish and religiously he's atheist.

                  Finally, something good about him.

Well it's hard to think of another interpretation.

IMO it's laudable to separate the two.

Chuka Umunna to run for Labour leader - BBC News

As someone already said, is Labour ready for a black person at the front ? Will the country be ready for a black PM by 2020?

I hope he gets the Labour post so that the destruction will be complete.
