Surely the theory is that all markets are self correcting - unless idiots try to meddle?

House prices go up therefore wages have to rise to compensate, when that becomes uneconomic the employers will relocate.

If the employer passes these increases onto consumers, then competing suppliers who have lower employment costs will force them out of the market.

When the workers can't afford to live/commute to an area, then they will relocate.

That is all fine but in the UK there is no other city to compete with London and so many non dom investors are buying up all the property in London. London is a monopoly.

And how does that affect what I said? The reason why property is expensive doesn't come into it (mostly*), just that it is unafforable.

*There will be some cases where it is sustainable.

In the long-run, yes. But the self-correction might not be very pleasant. A bit like saying we shouldn't practice population control by advising people not to have too many children, because ultimately it will self-correct when people start starving to death.

My instinct is to agree with you. I am just saying that other means should be explored.

Thus the Tories' intention to make a 'northern powerhouse' out of Manchester.

We all know from GOT what happens to 'kings' of the North.

You would have to swap the inhabitants of manchester with the inhabitants of warsaw
