Wow when did UKIP policy change so drastically?
Free global trade implies the free movement of people.
    Are you a loser?
Didn't do too well at school?
Can't make it in the most dynamic economy in Europe?
    No good with women?

Then VOTE UKIP! We'll make you whole again

In a knowledge economy, therefore, free trade implies the free movement of people.

No it doesn't. There is far more trade in form of the movement of goods than people. The knowledge economy is only a subset of the global economy and probably quite a small part overall.

Incorrect. Manufacturing in the UK is about 12% of the economy.
Even in goods-producing Germany it's only about 25%.
What do you think the whole City is based on?

no it implies the free-ish movement of knowledgeable people. Just like you catching a cold doesn't signify a global pandemic.

I travel quite a bit to deliver my skills in other countries.
Quite often I need a visa for the period I am there.

I don't need free movement of people to deliver my skills abroad.

Quite. So UKIP are proposing the "freeish movement of knowledgeable people"? Who defines "freeish and "knowledgable"?
                  Politicians?

So you are saying that everyone in the City needs to be able to travel freely to be able to sell a few shares or gamble on the Forex?

So that isn't free trade then, it's a bureaucratic impositon that someone has to pay for and administer and costs you and your clients time and money.
I'm not arguing for "free trade", I'm just saying you can't have your cake and eat it, don't use the term unless you really mean it in the literal, correct way.
