Doesn't your surgery do online appointments?

My GP practice has next day appointments which are released at 8 am the day before. The best bit is that the telephone operators also use the same database to book appointments which keeps things consistent. I not only find loads of appointments (at 8 am), but often have a choice of GP I would like to see.

You probably need to find a more efficient GP surgery in your catchment area and move !

The wife's surgery have been asking their Trust IT service to get this sorted for over a year, they were told that they had to get the software updated and that required a new onsite server. Ok they said, let's get it done.

So the server gets delivered and after a month they phone up and ask what is going on and when will the update be performed, they were told that the server needed to acclimatise to the room and when that was done they would install the software. They asked again a week later and the same story was given. I was asked for my opinion on this and after laughing I told them to complain as they were being told complete tulipe. I think some balls got booted somewhere.

Other than that it is standard practice to still have onsite servers in surgeries. Bonkers.

Why don't you get your missus to go into partnership with some other GPs and setup a private GP practice like these enterprising immigrants?
If these guys were close to me I would certainly use them.
The demand is certainly there - she can get rich and manage her hours - everyone is happy.
When enough people use services like this the NHS can finally wither away.
