Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.
No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent. -

The attitude of their representatives who post on CUK is also a complete turn off, they portray the organisation as arrogant, self serving and deceitful.
One question, though - given a free hand, what would you do differently to protect and improve the lot of the jobbing contractor?Blog? What blog...?Comment

Edit: This link works better - https://www.ipse.co.uk/ipse-cc-election-2015 , then click 'Visit IPSE Elections'.
Anyone else thinking about standing? There are still fewer candidates than spaces. Don't leave it till the last minute - it takes a little bit of time to get everything in place.Last edited by mudskipper; 15 April 2015, 07:11.Comment

@ms
Are you going over to the Dark Side? If so, I sincerely hope that you don't forget what PCG, in its original form, stood for, as opposed to being an Insurance Sales organisation?
When I first joined them in 2001, the forums there were active, they had a commitment to lobby against IR35 and S660 and I felt "part" of what was a dynamic crowd.
imho - times at IPSE have changed...I was an IPSE Consultative Council Member, until the BoD abolished it. I am not an IPSE Member, since they have no longer have any relevance to me, as an IT Contractor. Read my lips...I recommend QDOS for ALL your Insurance requirements (Contact me for a referral code).Comment

Are we allowed to campaign on here for our preferred candidates?
Go TheFaQQer and mudskipperI'm not even an atheist so much as I am an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches, and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. [Christopher Hitchens]Comment

A couple of hundred quid and you can join today and get yourself elected to get your voice heard too.Comment

However, keeping the focus fresh is important and that's why we need new blood unencumbered by the baggage of the old gits like me (and those ex-members who are still stuck back in 1999 of course..). We need people to challenge the status quo from today's viewpoint, so if you are teed off about something that IPSE can deal with, get stuck in.Blog? What blog...?Comment

If you aren't happy with how the organisation is doing things, then you have a choice - you can either try to influence from within or you whinge from outside. And the best places to influence from within are the CC and the board.
And as ms says - a couple of hundred quid today looks like you could well become part of something that does have influence within the organisation.Comment
