There was a real intimidation of business by the SNP and nationalists over the whole debate, promises of a "day of reckoning" after independence to any business that stood out against the SNP's proposals.

The SNP were phoning companies up asking directors for their views, sane minded people were just keeping their heads down and voting no privately.

One person tweeted about a day of reckoning and he was pulled up for it.

It would also help to have an immunity to being wounded/shot/killed by US Marines and Secret Service people if you're going to rock up at the US Embassy in London with a firearm
