My chilli plants

Decided to grow some chilli plants this year, planted seeds on the 14th of February and a bunch came up over the weekend. I am very excited as you can tell.

Types range from normal hot ones like thai, ornamental ones like volcano that I'll give as gifts. Then we go on a trip up the nut job scale from ring of fire, scotch bonnet, orange habanero, red habanero, Antilles habanero to the chocolate habanero which comes in at 600,000 on the Scoville scale.

The kids planed some with nanny in the garden at Leeds, nothing was thought about them as didn't expect them to grow, was surprised when Mini Mac came back with a swollen face, crying his eyes out after eating one that even I struggled to handle and I love them.

Needless to say they were all quickly removed and disposed of!

Where did you buy the seeds?

Last august I planted seeds of a dozen types of herb, each in a separate pot full of that "growbag" humus material.

But I've been very disappointed with the results. Most barely surfaced, and even now they seem weedy and are struggling.

WTF did I do wrong? Perhaps it was a mistake to leave them outside from the outset. But it was summer after all!

If I had planted dandelions at the same time, they would have been five feet wide by now - Why is it only the weeds seem to flourish

I planted some last year - can't even remember what type but more chosen because you get nice colours.

A few sprouted and I have 3 plants left. But they've stopped doing anything as they only just got going before autumn came

I got one packet as a Christmas gift then supplemented them with ones from South devon chilli farm

Propagator with the plugs was from B&Q, cant remember the price but less than a fiver I think.

Don't know about the herbs but the chilli seeds should be planted January to May and kept inside only until good weather, Ill probably keep mine indoors unless they get massive.

Most things are planted between now and May/June, depending where you are in the country.

No

I left the packets carefully propped under their respective pots, to identify the herbs.

But by the time I realised it might be a good idea to read the instructions, the packets were too mouldy and muddy to read.

My next door but one neighbour was good at growing "herbs".

I thought they were special tomatoes?
