- Doctors - paid double in other countries..why hang out here
- nurses - paid double for less work
- IT - paid truckloads more in the USA


Given the ultra-low productivity in the UK, the only way to be competitive is to either pay less or hire people who work harder for the same money. With EU migrants you get both!

you could also do stuff like reduce the size of the govt/debt, and then reduce taxes for a start. Unfortunately not a single party really 'promises' that.

"High end" skills mobility in the EU is very low. The workers that come over here are low end workers.

Indeed. They are nearly all University graduates from Eastern Europe. If you ask any Pole working in Starbucks, shops and recruitment agencies whether he or she has a degree they will usually say yes. Very few are working in "proper jobs" - IT or engineering or STEM occupations in high tech roles.

In the West Midlands, Polish entrepreneurs at first set up restaurants and construction firms. But later migrants, many of them women, built design firms and marketing agencies. A couple run bakeries big enough to supply leading supermarkets. Websites that once simply provided information for new arrivals have become commercial ventures that charge for access and advertising.

The study highlights that, in addition to generating employment, Polish immigration is a realistic potential source of income for the local economy as many entrepreneurs rely on funding from home to set up their business. The study shows that family finance is an important source of capital for Polish entrepreneurs with more than half the entrepreneurs interviewed mentioning family capital or financial advice as important in setting up a UK business.

The truth is Polish Engineers come and work as Engineers, Polish doctors work as doctors, and polish shelf stackers work as shelf stackers. The fact that high percentage have a University education means nothing less than a lot of them are working in professional jobs or setting up their own companies.
