Who do we vote for in the May general election and who do we not vote for?

    Hi,

Just interested to hear thoughts on who will be the best political party to vote for with regards to being an IT contractor. I have always voted tory (yes I am ashamed to admit it) but as they have not only continued the witch hunt started by labour but made everything 10 times worse I won't be voting for neither of them.

I know that they are all a pack of liars who promise you the earth on the run up to the election but does anyone think this mob have a hope?

100 days till the election, 100 reasons to vote UKIP - UKIP

If not who is offering the 250,000 contractors in the UK the best deal?

If you think voting for a party that can't be elected will solve anything then go ahead but it will be a wasted vote. Regardless of however many people vote for them in a FPTP system they will at best win 10 seats and won't be anything other than an annoyance.

Personally voting UKIP is just going to result in Labour winning by default get UKIP take just enough votes in enough constituencies to allow Labour to win those seats from the Conservatives.

True but after the tories promised to repeal IR35 I can't stomach voting for them
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

I am hoping the Tories will see the light and engage in a confidence and supply arrangement with UKIP. At least that may push them back to a somewhat vague free market orientation.

It's not like the Tories have a snowball's chance in this constituency, anyway...

Also, if memory serves, the LDs bandied about the promises about abolishing IR35 and never delivered - were the Tories also making false promises of this nature? Not that I'd be surprised. None of the three seem very contractor-friendly, seeing as it is a minority of the population, and they only cater to minorities that can secure them power, such as the Scots.

If UKIP get their way they'll take away the opportunity for contractors to work across Europe, not to mention all the CUKers will have to come home and compete for contacts here. And that's not in anyone's interest.

Though the Tories might do the same if they follow through on the referendum.

The best hope with Labour is that they'll be so focused on pleasing the unions and laws for employees they might forget about the likes of contractors.

Traditionally the Tories are the better party for business and for those that are actually good at things, but I don't like where they've been going on Europe and the intrusions into civil liberties, so I'm leaning towards voting LibDem. But then I can do that safe in the knowledge that it'll make no difference whatsoever in this Tory safe seat.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

                  Who knows? I don't.

I guess the tories come across as the more competent of the lot but crikey voting for them would be a bitter pill to swallow, after they let hmrc off the leash to terrorize us while their mates get promoted to the House of Lords for doing a lot worse (Baron Stephen Green, Panorama last night)....also funny how the EBT deadline was moved until after the election...I'm thinking UKIP just as a protest although I do agree with some of the policies, but I reckon it would be absolute chaos if they did win.

I guess people are working in Europe because of a skills shortage and that won't go away if UKIP get in - they can't just boot them out, that's bordering on ethnic cleansing.
