In this situation it would not have helped one single bit. They come in with semi automatic rifles and shotguns and start shooting immediately and by the time you've even moved to get to your weapon you would have been shot. Stop watching Bruce Willis movies

      Ah that! I agree.

I however still believe that common sense prevails on when to use it and on whom.

Common sense is one thing, but being trained to pull gun correctly when unexpected and aim well is another - it should be part of responsible gun ownership.

That was not what I said...knowing how to use a firearm is very different than actually being able to pull the trigger, with the intention of ending the target's life (this is the whole point of the shot, after all - wounding is never the intent).

Its all very well saying that you wouldn't have any problems, but dealing with the psychological after effects is another?

.... Well you think that but how do you know? ....

It's like thinking you know would know how to behave in airplane crash by practising in a flight simulator.

Until the bullets really start flying and your colleagues are being torn to bits in front of you, you cannot tell how you'll respond.

All part of the training - don't pull the gun unless you are prepared to shoot 'em dead and be ready to deal with all psychological after effects of stopping murderer from killing your friends.

I see the forum moron is going on about why didnt they have a gun in the office!? Like, you're just going to have a couple of kalasnikovs around the gaff.

And there were armed police nearby, one of which was summarily executed at point blank. What a strange sense of proportion some posters here have never mind in the world.

My big fear is these murderous bastards will simply disappear into the night, never to be brought to justice.

I personally detest religions, all of them. They make men do unspeakable crimes in the name of 'their' god.

The human race is so unfathomable at times.

That's no small thing. You're talking about turning everyone into soldiers.
