11 dead in French shooting

10 people in office, attackers had no clue which ones could have had a few handguns (Glock 9mm to the head is as effective as 7.62 from Kalashnikov) - by the time they shot 3rd victim they should have received return fire from those who had firearms. Granted artists are not the ones carrying guns, but given the risks they took and much more liberal gun laws in France they should have armed themselves at least in the office.

Obviously it's NOT their fault that they were not armed, I am just saying had they been armed then attackers would not have killed so many.

I've just had a look around the office to see who should be armed in case we are attacked by armed nutters. I reckon I'd be safer just running like **** rather than arm any of my colleagues.

Almost anybody in this country can get license to drive 2 ton vehicle which can and often does kill many people, why can't responsible trained people get handgun license?

FFS AtW, I think everyone understands your point and most agree with it. It is the difference between what a Coroner does to a deadbody as against what Sir Jimmy Saville does to it.

Why? I'm quite happy being surrounded by people who aren't Bruce Willis wannabes and would probably tulip themselves if anyone even suggested they should be armed.

You cannot protect yourselves from deranged people, since they defy rational behaviour. That is the measure of their "success".

I have held licensed firearms for nearly 30 years, prior to which I had military firearms. I grew up with the bleeding things all over the place (South Africa '70/'80/'90s). I spent years doing "Practical Pistol/Combat" shooting, but would never consider myself ready to take on these irrational imbeciles, nor ready to face the consequences of taking a pot and missing, hitting an innocent.

Ok, then it's your choice to be killed like a lamb in slaughterhouse, which is perfectly acceptable so long as others get to choose their own path.

Do you go to work armed?
Are any of your colleagues armed at work?
Do you have weapons at home?
