Staying sober tonight, making a flask of hot toddy and driving the missus up to Rivington to watch the fireworks over Bolton, Manchester and all points west.

This year Im taking my night vision gogs, because I had a real 'doh' moment last week. I turned the image intensifier on the sky, and wow. much better than binos or a telescope.
why didn't I think of it before ??? so f******g obv now.

Off to the pub shortly for a couple of beers, then back home by 7.30 to help GF Platypus cook a nice meal. Maybe some bubbles later and we'll likely continue watching the box set of Six Feet Under rather than the usual NYE tulipe - I assume Jools Holland is on as usual ?

I think it was a ballot this year.

They tend to do that for over subscribed shows.

Staying for a nice curry with the in laws, a friend popped round earlier and showed Mrs V how to cook a nice Pakastani curry (not me I was too busy chopping bits of tree up).

we may well be imbibing later, there is the SPAR best (which is surprisingly good) and I have a bottle of Monkey shoulder to try.
