One (of many) things that was never addressed during the referendum debate was the fact that all contracts between oil producers (Shell, BP etc, etc) are with the UK Government. Even though most oil fields are in Scottish waters, they are of course UK waters, so this makes sense.

If Scotland had become independent then all of these contracts would have to be rewritten from scratch and I'm sure that anyone on here that has seen someone going from brolly to Ltd would concur that this is a complicated process and if you're the one requesting the change you are not the one holding all of the cards.

This was highlighted in an episode of Question Time and it was very frustratingly ignored by both sides of the debate.

We only needed 200,000 to switch to a Yes to get Independence and there's plenty of people who were scared by project Fear into voting No who have said they will vote Yes next time.

"Better Together" didn't take long to dissolve into a squabble of ferrets fighting in a sack whilst the Yes campaign have continued to grow in strength. England is being pulled to the right with big corporations calling the shots but Scotland is still very much to the left.

The Scottish Government of the day will decide the question on the ballot paper with the agreement of the electoral commission, just as it was in September.

Undoubtedly, some people voted no because they clearly wanted to stay part of the UK, but there were also plenty who believed ramblings of Brown and Darling, the 'vow', the lies, the media spin etc. probably more than enough in the latter camp to have swung the outcome to 'Yes'.

Personally I would make them sign up to contribute towards UK expenses (Defence, Foreign Policy and International Development, etc.) let them keep CT for Scottish companies (but not vary the rate) and let them decide about Income Tax and VAT.

See how keen they all are on free prescriptions and university when they see their wage slips.
