Sir Boomington of BoomVale, 5th of his name.

15 mins from home, slight bump in rate, initial 3 months likely to extend yadda yadda.

Very pleased as I thought for a bit I was going to get caught in December void but just managed to sneak in before the door shut.

They want 5 years references, for a contractor? Bah.

    Congratulations
I'm not even an atheist so much as I am an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches, and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. [Christopher Hitchens]

My NewClientCorp also wanted five years of references, but it wasn't really references: just confirmation that I'd done the stuff. It took me bloody ages to sort it all out, as the online form insisted on precise dates, and I only ever record stuff like that to the nearest month. Why I should have to specify what date in April 2009 I started a gig that ended that December, I do not know

In the end there was one agency from a gig about three years ago that hadn't replied, and the background check team said to just send them a copy of the contract, together with records of the first and last payments from that gig, and that would be sufficient. I wish they'd told me that at the start. It would have saved everybody a lot of hassle.
