It's just labour ******* up the economy on the sly so that when the tories get back in and tell everybody what sort of a state the economy is really in labour can try and blame them for it.
Indeed it is - IMO inflation calculation should include bare minimum stuff that people simple have to pay for in order to live, ie: food, fuel (car/gas/electricity), council tax, morgage/rent payments (pro rata by split between owners/renters) etc.
Including IPOds and things like this is a joke.
You mean inflation DOESNT take in to account the actual true real meaningful cost of living (like power, food, CT etc)?
I bet Roberto Mugabe would love to have people like what we have who determine inflation working for him!

bloody labour
Like they didn't cook the books too!
I remember the good old days of this site when people used to moan about serious contractor related issues like house prices and immigration. How times have changed!?
You and I and everyone else except the Government already know that inflation is much higher than that bullsh1t 2.5% rate.
If only my power and everything else only went up every year by 2.5%
Mailman
No, the government do know it is over 2.5% (Tube, bus fares up 30% - thanks Ken, Not!). That's why they keep fiddling with what they use to calculate it. It's some dumb voters who have n't twigged yet, because being chav like the inflation is something like 2.5%. For the middle classes they are still dreaming of an inflation rate that low!
The actual figure is recognised to be, according to a director at the investment company I work for, about 6.5 % and climbing. True unemployment is higher than Germany at about 9.8% or more. And climbing.

I have an idea of my personal inflation figure, which is going down. The things I personally buy are getting cheaper. My employment figures are high, close to 100%.
So thanks for the concern but you can **** off now with your doom and gloom (if you want to)

My personal inflation figure is sky high due to the fact I live life like a proper contractor, or at least Threaded. Then, when I have nothing I will wind the company down and claim all my benefits (after becoming a member of a minority group of course)...
