Even now the PC brigade are refusing to acknowledge that the Rotherham catastrophe is largely a muslim issue. No one dares say it but I would imagine that the people who are fed up with immigration are more concerned about Asian immigration than EU immigration. Poles, Romanians are not culturally much different to the British. Most aspire to UK values and identify with Britishness. These people are comfortable with integration into British communities. Muslims on the other hand are perceived as wanting to bring all aspects of their culture to the UK. They do not aspire to being British. They like their arranged marriages and all the other sexist discrimination that goes with it. They cordon themselves off in Ghettos while the liberal left celebrate it as multiculturalism.

That's probably true, but the biggest reason people are fed up with immigration is the increase in population, and the resultant strain on our space, resources and public services.

I never said that I am sorry if I have misunderstood you or written out of context of the thread. My point is that the EU is responsible for some immigration problems that we face here in the UK. The Rotherham situation is not one of them. The ideal policy for me is that there should be open borders into the UK from the EU but we should have the right to veto anyone we do not want.

This could be easily achieved without leaving the EU. All it takes is compulsory residence registration with the council (and some sort of ID) for EU citizens who apply for an insurance number. Then it will be easy to sort out the bad deeds. There should be also a EU-wide CRB certificate. Even better a EU insurance number so a member state can check if a citizen works in one country and receives benefit in another country. That would weed out tens of thousands.

Since the story was first broken by the Times, important points have been made clear again and again.

1) Terrible crimes have been perpetrated against young women and girls.
2) The perpetrators are almost exclusively Pakistani men
3) These men viewed their victims as being fair game on the grounds that they were Western and white.
4) The authorities worked very hard, on stupid ideological grounds, to suppress the fact of 2)

I won't permit this discussion to cross the line into racism - under particular scrutiny will come any generalisations about Muslims or Pakistanis.
