How you should describe the Lib Dems?

    http://johnredwoodsdiary.com/2014/10/07/how-should-you-describe-the-lib-dems/ by John Redwood

The Lib Dem Manifesto for 2015 is taking shape. It is likely to send out clear messages:

Do not work hard and earn a good income – if you do we will punish you with higher income taxes

If you dare succeed and get a higher income, do not buy an expensive house – if you do we will want to punish you with higher taxes

If you earn well and dare to save for your retirement, we will take money from your pension fund with higher taxes

If you run your own business and want to sell it for a good profit, we will want to take profits with Capital Gains tax

If you save we will pursue you with higher dividend taxes

The Lib Dem advice is do not succeed and get a good income or make a business success. Or if you do, spend the money as quickly as possible. On no account save it or invest it. Saving, investing, building companies and buying dearer houses are ills that need to be punished.

    What a depressing outlook.
So true, although I think given their likely poll ratings in 2015 he is kicking at an open door.

    No kidding.

While I genuinely think 2 party politics is thoroughly unhealthy I'll be rather surprised if the Lib Dems don't suffer a total or near total whitewash in the May election.

The downfall of the Yellow peril is the best thing to happen in UK politics for years.

Unfortunately they've been replaced by the Greens who are an even more extreme bunch of wacko's

John Redwood is a complete nutter who would see taxes slashed and the NHS run into the ground. A Tory.
The LibDems are useless and Titiband can't even remember his lines.

I'm voting SNP (but No in any referendum

You're right there although, if they were actually green wackos doing things like trying to preserve our countryside, I'd support them but green issues seem to be a mere afterthought. What they are is basically a bunch of lefty public sector trade union supporters.

I couldn't care less if the Lib-dems vanished off the face of the earth, which will also put to death the idea of them doing a deal with Labour or the Tories. Even the Greens seem to be eating away into their vote. Plus they epitomise the "all politicians are liars" adage. I also don't expect them to see eye to eye with someone like Boris Johnson, should he run for PM.

Their adamant desire to tax the "rich" (read: middle class) more is good enough reason to steer clear from these champagne socialists.

English eccentricity now being played out in UK politics, the wacko Greens and nutter Kippers, you couldn't make it up
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Good article in yesterday's (or was it Monday's?) Times ... seems that students are very unlikely to forgive for the tuition fees about-face, and students have until now formed quite a large part of the lib dem electorate. Oh and they're crying because Cameron "stole" their policy on raising the tax allowance. Boo hoo.

Clegg really is the worse kind of phoney hand-wringing hypocrite ever.

So the Scottish Labour seats are going SNP, who are the English LibDem seats going to - or will they just get divvied up fairly evenly?
