What has oil got to do with anything?

The entire press focuses on this like it's the only commodity on offer. Only ever considered a bonus to the country. Even still Westminster squandered the oil wealth long ago.

Nothing, only that it was one of the things that those SNP idiots tried to sell as been pivotal to Scotland achieving independence.

If you bothered to read the white paper it makes no-mention of using oil revenue to support the economy, but rather treated as a bonus.

Tourism - My own but n ben 82% occupancy last year
Electronics - Silicon glen, Invernesshire - Johnson n Johnson, etc..
Education
Life sciences
Renewable energy - streets ahead of the rUK in terms of engineering in this sector.
Financial & business services - down the pan almost, I think.
IT - Number of startups, Skyscanner being one

Seeing all of the above are such great successes, why not just go independent and be done with it?

If you had bother to understand why people voted remain you'd know it was nothing to do with the budget. But since you din't I'll explain. The number one reason for voting remain:

1) Currency. Too much uncertainty.

2) We'd remain in the EU for sure. Not so sure now.

SNP only need to answer currency question and let the Tories tear themselves apart, crash bang wallop, we'll have a brand new shiny referendum

Why does that have any bearing?
The fact is, as we discussed earlier they would not be able to stand on their two feet.

FWIW, I have or had no problem with Scotland being independent, I really couldn't GAS, but surely the people will suffer if Scotland cannot pay for itself?

I wrote about this in The Spectator earlier this year, pointing out that Scotland would be £8.5 billion a year worse off if it seceded from the United Kingdom. If you add that to Scotland’s share of the UK’s annual deficit – which it would inherit – it’s hard to see Scotland staving off bankruptcy for very long. In order for Scotland to be financially better off outside the union – the ludicrous claim made in the Scottish government’s 2013 white paper – North Sea oil revenue would have to increase by several thousand per cent. Either that, or the Scottish economy would have to grow 15 per cent faster than the UK’s. And remember, the British economy is currently the fastest-growing in Europe. It seems unlikely, to put it mildly, that an independent Scotland that had joined the euro could service its annual deficit by borrowing, particularly if you factor in that it would begin life £100 billion in the red – Scotland’s share of the UK’s national debt. 1) Currency. Just carry on printing your own Jock notes. Stick Sturgeon's head on them if you like, you'll struggle to find anyone in the real world who gives a flying sh!t.
2) So you want to stay in the EU, the very organisation that has crucified your fishing industry (as well as ours). I didn't realise turkeys really voted for Christmas, but it's your vote (although in your case it's not your vote, is it).
