I've got to say I don't understand this 'Independence thingy'. The Scots say they want independence, but at the same time want a Currency Union with rUk. Well for a currency union to be seen as viable by the markets spending and borrowing limits would have to be imposed on Scotland by the rUk Treasury/BOE. So all this is to get an 'Independent' Nation whose interest rates, borrowing and spending would be controlled by another nation? Is that what 'Yes' is really all about?

I live in the valleys Wales and I've seen first hand the laziness and benefits culture where people think they're entitled to sit on their arse and do nothing, whilst I agree something needs to be done to address the inequity I believe it's a problem society has created. Yeah sure the money should go to those that need it but implementing something to do this isn't as simple as you'd think.

Fair enough, I can sympathize with wanting to turn over the current system, but I just hope what comes after is not something worse. The elite always have a way of coming out on top in these things. They've been playing the game for hundreds of years. In any case if the Scots do vote Yes I can only wish them the very best of luck. I've got fond memories of a stag night in Edinburgh years ago!

I'm Scottish, as was my father before me and his father before him. Don't tell me what's in my interest and what's not. People in the South don't get to decide anymore what's right for Scotland. Those days are swiftly coming to an end.

Probably best to ignore most of what Scooterscot says, as you rightly point out, he doesn't even have a vote.

For some people, me included, it's not really about the above. it's about having the opportunity for your country to vote in it's own government, always get the government it votes for and at least have an outside chance of having a government which has it's citizens interests at heart. There is zero chance of any of that in Westminster (if you live in Scotland).

Perhaps, instead, there won't be as much influence for a political party the power of which relies on maintaining a perpetual class of victims whilst sucking up to the banksters and unions (and selected big businesses) whatever its rhetoric may be. Good riddance, Labour. However, I am sure socialist Scotland will show is all how it's done, when it isn't haemorrhaging jobs. That is, if Salmond is in charge after a secession and if he sticks to his party's principles.

I think Scotland could go in very exciting directions if he isn't chained around its neck.

So am I, but I'm also British. I see independence as divisive, but, like you, I don't get a vote.

Although I think it's been pretty divisive regardless of the outcome.
