But it wasn't just change for change's sake.

After Edward Heath's dismal failure to confront the unions, things were pretty dire in the '70s and going from bad to worse.

(Wasn't all the unions' fault though - Management incompetence, especially in the many state-owned industries, didn't help.)

Yeah shame management incompetence still seems like a badge of honour
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

They can have their little socialist experiment then, without the rest of us having to pay for it.
The point being that the Tories are instrumental in the running of the NO campaign. Why do you think that might be ?

Because they'd lose the Unionist vote

Not in Scotland they wouldn't. They don't have one.

Have not considered they might be more concerned about votes outside of Scotland

Are you seriously suggesting that the driving force behind Tory votes in England is the future of the union ????

No I didn't suggest that, you suggested that I suggest that.

Its very odd as without Scotland Labour would not stand a chance of holding government.
