Actually, I would read from those figures that trying to buy them with £500 doesn't make much difference, but penalising them £500 would, indicating that they're not greedy, they just can't afford to be worse off.

I am perfectly fine with that, you have already established that I am very stupid, and I freely and publically acknowledge that.Originally posted by minestrone View PostWhat is the average wage, 25 grand? 1 grand difference on that after tax is going to be several percentages on income tax
Do the English not think about voting options when they are faced with a 5% tax shift or are you too stupid to better your lot when you have an advantage that can be used if you choose.
I have news for you that nobody will feel more or less Scottish if the place was independent. The premise that nationality is at stake here is nonsense.
However, let's then be honest about the actual issue under debate and acknowledge the assertion that for a significant portion of Scots, the whole business is purely about financial gain and that all this guff about the principle of self determination is just that, guff.

Pardon me for asking, but are you on your period at the moment?Originally posted by minestrone View PostYou could just make some numbers up, you have been doing that quite a bit in the thread.I'm Spartacus.Comment

Better off +9%, worse off -25%. Hmmm, yes, there might be something in that.Originally posted by Bunk View PostActually, I would read from those figures that trying to buy them with £500 doesn't make much difference, but penalising them £500 would, indicating that they're not greedy, they just can't afford to be worse off.
Maybe the nationalist moaners are doing their countrymen a disservice then? Although nationalist zeal and the principle of self-determination undoubtedly motivates a portion of the Scots surveyed, possibly those wealthier ones or those less concerned about potential hardship, they would be happy to inflict that financial hardship on the more ambivalent but less well off.
One to ponder.I'm Spartacus.Comment

Were you seriously suggesting that Scotland is any different?Comment

I give up.Originally posted by Spartacus View PostIsn't that what you said?
I can only add that it is frightening someone like yourself so utterly devoid of reasoning and logical analysis actually has a vote.Comment

I think it's just normal human reaction to the question.
Who would actually vote for something that makes them worse off?
I'm sure if you put the question to English voters with, say UKIP v Tories, that one would make you better off and the other would make you worse off then most would vote to be better off.Comment
