That's because they both believe in a different flavour of the same sky fairy. They're at war* with most of the rest of the Middle East as well, for the same reason. And they're very close to having nukes. Hence the rather urgent need to take out some of the key nutcases.

*Technically proxy wars, such as Yemen/Saudi Arabia, Lebanon etc.
