So just I'm on a project to implement a system across the whole company and I need some advice on managing user involvement. What's your approach? Create a big user group and meet monthly or have a smaller group who feed out messages to the wider user community?

There is a world of difference between a small enterprise and a multi-national. It is nationwide? Europe wide? Worldwide?
'User involvement' can mean anything from gathering requirements to skills assessments, comms and training and much more.
Your RACI would be a good start in determining your needs but it would need to have a number of perspectives covering business strategy to operations.
