Why don't you peruse the job adds and see which skills they are asking for and then invest in learning those? Find ways to mention them on your cv and generally work them into your background?Comment

AS 400, AS400, AS-400, AS/400 are not very likely to be word matched in agency systems with current contract positions, as those terms all but died about ten years ago. System i, iSeries are more likely to appear in automated searches. I suspect that many agents are not sufficiently knowledgeable to make the connection. Even those that can may have a hard time explaining the connection to even more ignorant clients, so I think you need to help them along.
"Find and replace" by all means but you have to feel confident talking about the new systems and you do not want to miss out on the odd vacancy which does actually have AS400 in it.
Others may correct me but I think I would link the two in the CV, e.g. "AS400 now succeeded by System I or iSeries"......or something similar. You have to think like the simplistic machines we program!Last edited by Taita; 26 June 2014, 15:46.Comment
