The real issue here is that these other two agencies have headhunted you but they know they need a get-out clause in case they made a mistake in contracting you. They're taking a chance and they're trying to cover their asses.

These two other agencies sound like chancers. In my opinion, you should stick with the current contract and see if there is a renewal or a similar contract with the same client or through the same agency. This way you establish a working relationship, rather than play to these other agents game and cause bad feeling with your current client and your agent.

It's a normal short term contract. You may find it is renewed in 3 month instalments. Some clients limit contracts to three months because they're not certain about budgets and timescales etc. Stick with it.
Thanks for your insight AND for actually answering my questions.

Let me state for the record 'I DID NOT VOTE FOR DUBYA!'

Ok so from what I gather 3 months is the norm and everything is negotiable.

The reason why I'm willing to cut out my current contract early is because managent has stated that they hired too many contractors and have already let go of 2 other contractors out of a group of 10 they initially hired.

Call me skittish but I'm not exactly being used to my potential here so I figure there really isn't much incentive to keep me and I know there's almost no chance of a renewal seeing as they're not assigning any new work but just waiting for the existing contracts to expire.

To be honest I think they'd be relieved for me to give notice. I can't imagine that they enjoy paying me to sit around and twiddle my thumbs. I figure I must be meeting some quota for a double minority or something.

    I'll keep it updated.

        I'm not. Trust me.

I'm very grateful to them for keeping me away from the Trisha Goddard show.

But seeing as I'm feeling like a bit of a charity case at the moment I'd like to actually be contributing something beyond my project which was completed 3 weeks ago.

Then again my partner maintains that I haven't quite learned how to 'quit when i'm ahead'

How come u can come here & work and we can't go to the US to work (not that I'd want to) ?

Is it because our government are constantly bending over for your government and so you can come here but we can't go there?!

In general I actually like America & Americans - can you imagine how peeved off we would be if Johnny bleedin foreigner berated us all the time for Blair’s policies!!!

So we could cut Tracy some slack and at least make her welcome

She could reciprocate and take a picture of her boobs & stick them on 'Test Please Delete' and help to further Anglo American relations (assuming they're not droopy like spaniel ears

            HTH

btw ... we're really really sorry for burning Washington

Oh boy, seeing as you don't want to go work 'there' I hardly see your question as relevant. No Americans can't just come to work here. Same immigration policies both ways. I'm no more welcome here than you would be. Except the chicks there would probably dig your accent and think you were really smart.

I married an Englishman and moved here so you can blame him for me being inflicted on you. Bloody self hating Brits!!!

Oh we forgive you for burning Washington. Glad we could help out what with WWII and all that.

And no there will be no boob shots on here. Droopy or otherwise.

                  Over-rated, over-paid, over-here

I'd have thought coming from a place that introduced the whole concept of 'flexible and mobile workforce' and allows only 2 weeks' paid holidays, you would not have minded about the 7/14-day trial period that may or may not be right for you. And why not ? You are probably also unaware that there is a 3-MONTH trial period for 'permanent' staff (well, in name only, as there is no such thing as permanent jobs here) during or at the end of one, anyone that can be deemed unsuitable is asked to leave. I detect from your tone that you wish that Amnerican citizens wish to be exempted from that too. You may also wish that we provide you with free accommodation, transport, etc. Maybe George should have a word with his mate Tony who would be happy to oblige. For the record, any American that I have come across (contractor or perm) mainly in the investment bank sector think they are better than anyone else, so you are no exception Tracy.

                    American.

In fact technically "American" covers all American continentals including Peruvians, Chileans etc. Perhaps you mean the United States of America.

Your issues with my fellow citizens are hardly my concern. Poor little Asterix can't stand the big bad Americans. Your issue not mine.

Whether I'm better than anyone else I work with is irrelevant. If I was in Timbuktu I would negotiate a contract that was beneficial to me. But then again we don't think you get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate.

Clearly you my friend are suffering from a serious case of sour grapes. So let me make you feel better.
'For the record I am in fact better than you. I'm better than you. Na, na, na, na, na!'

Does your animosity feel justified now? Feel better now? Suck a bottle and take a nap.
