Current Market for Security Cleared Engineers (Windows Server)

    All,

Quick question really - i work for a large IT Outsourcing company, and we are on the look out for a number of experienced windows Server engineers.. with Security Clearance. But we aren't getting any bites on the recruitment front. Suspect the rate we are offering is too low, or the term is too short.

Of course the other possibility is that there really is a shortage of people (i think unlikely) looking for work at the moment?

    Discuss.

Or both. SC contractors can take their pick at the moment - and you must be bottom of the pile.

You know it is illegal to advertise for SC cleared people only? Why aren't you looking for people and then put them through the clearance?

Noticed the SC rates were not great at the moment, how much are you guys offering? I'm networking/security though so not what you looking for.

Simple. You are looking for experienced windows server engineers (a niche), in your location (a niche), for a low rate (a niche), on a short term contract (a niche), WITH SC (a tiny niche).

You are looking to recruit from a niche, within a niche, within a niche, within a niche, within a tiny niche.

          And you are surprised?

Me? Not at all - trying to convince the business they are doing it wrong.

For the person above who asked about why not advertise generally.. and then take them through the SC process - that is an option, but i need someone on the ground ASAP.

Hmm - maybe, what networking / security specialties? I am also looking for a network chap.. to help with some VPN design work (for a security minded customer)... also have some proxy stuff in there too. F5 LTM/APM/GTM/ASM

Though short term contract is not a niche when combined with low rate. Nobody likes to remain on low rate for longer than necessary.

Surprising then how many agents try to justify a low rate because it's a long term gig...
