New to contracting - Been given a preferred supplier list... help me choose?

Any chance of getting a whiff of the rate before the agents? Would just be a matter of finding one that took the lowest cut (with a balance of size of company for the reason you mentioned above as well of course)

Good idea but in this case (CL1 - framework which is due to be rolled out over all govt) the cut the agents take is paid for by the client. My rate is agreed already (ie what I'll get) - so I assume as part of the "privilege" of being on the supplier list the cut that the agent takes has already been agreed as part of some larger agreement between Capita and the agents.

Ok so there is no money incentive to choose from the list. There is only one other option to help you pick one.

Go through LinkedIn and find the company with more agents that are fit birds than the others, ring them and tell them you will go with them if you can have <insert fit bird name here> dealing with you. HTH

You think right. Although the CL framework came into play for most of the Govt depts in April, and contractors are still feeling the pain.

The only one I can readily spot on the list that also does brolly is Lorien (O don't use one and am not going to trawl through them). I have, and am currently using, ComXPs as an Agent, who then have to deal with Crapita to save me the pain. Other people where I am are contracting direct with Crapita, if you have found someone helpful there maybe they can tell you which ones on the list do brolly.

Ultimately they are the company that the government contract with. But there can be any number of agencies between Crapita and the individual.
