Re: travel expenses - I queried this with my accountant (claiming the cost of a london travelcard)... I live in London and would be going to a London client office every day. He said as long as it's for less than 24 months it's claimable. True? Seems rather long and 'permanent' for an expense.

Last time I did it, I could never get the freebie on the Monday morning. In the end I would book a random ticket for the Monday so that I could get the Friday freebie.Originally posted by Pogle View PostYep its the Traveller club. I used it last time i worked in London too.
Never ever had a problem getting the tickets i want.
Last London contract I realised that because the train I caught home on a Friday nearly always declassified the last first class carriage so I could sit in there on my standard ticket.Comment

Funnily enough after I posted my last reply I found those threads too. Couldn't see the wood for the trees - consider me thoroughly chastised.⭐️ Gold Star ContractorComment

Travel to London works out around £250 a week for me (don't include things like lunch which although a bit more expensive isn't that much extra). My current London rate is £150 a day more than the best rate I ever got in the Midlands so its a no brainer really. Contracts closer to home pay a lot less and I may as well travel to London rather than up north as its easier to get to from Birmingham.Comment
