    Cater Allen Payment Issues

Anyone else having problems with Cater Allen? I set up a payment to move yesterday, it didn't, and now when I look it's stuck there saying "paying" with a pay date of yesterday

    WTF?

Just spoke to them - apparently this is normal for CA, even though all other banks seem to move same day

They are not a direct submitter into BACS or FP

Right there on the payment screen

† Please note that the payment will be debited from your account and credited to the receiving account on the next business day after the 'Payment Date'.

You will still need to have the funds for the payment in your account on the 'Payment Date'.
Which sucks, this day and age, specially as my funds usually arrive on a Friday ....

Normal for CA. I've found payments to be a bit slow.

In hindsight, I wish I had known just how 'fast', CA's faster payments are before I opened an account with them. I've had one occasion where I had to pay £5k for my VAT return right near the deadline and my CA account wouldn't have been able to get the money to HMRC in time. I had to pay it out of my personal bank account which was a pain.

Their customer service is good but I realise now that true faster payments was probably one of my 'must haves.'

and big upkeep costs, hence smaller banks can't afford it

                    I'm with CA.
If you need to have something transferred on the 31st just mark it for transfer on the 30th. (or if that is a weekend the first working day before the 31st).

it is always one working day later then what you schedule the payment for. Once you know that there's no problem.
I'm generally happy with CA. The only thing I'm nervous about with CA is their low level of security when logging on to the internet banking
