    Selling without passion

I am in a technical presales contract role for company who I don't believe has a very good products.
Being external, I have little influence over the strategy of the client, which normally I think is a healthy relationship.
Have you ever been in a position where your heart wasn't in it and you kept invoicing anyway?
I'm pretty sure saying bye will be my new year's resolution, but it's hard to say bye to a paying client...

WHS - I do it for the money, act professionally, try to find some enjoyment with colleagues etc but have little interest in the work...

Most days, although some clients inspire more buy in than others.

To quote Spaceballs, we don't do this for the money. We do it for a sh*tload of money.

But I agree, I couldn't sell something I didn't believe in. I'm too honest. Been there and refused to do it, making my own recommendations which weren't inline with the consultancy's strategy. Clients loved me and they always got the right solution.

              yep (like others) every day.

I nearly didn't accept the latest extension as I am getting so bored (yawn) with it now, but then (just to shake myself out of this temporary 'I've just about had enough' insanity) I checked my account balance and thought, oh what the frak, let's give it another 3 months, add to this stash & still manage to get away to the Caribe again which will keep the OH happy. It's a good rate, 20 mins from home (so no living away 5hite), and the other guys are ok, actually.

You're a private dancer, a dancer for money and any old music will do.

I've worked on boring tulipe for years now and Im going to try something different in the new year. I want a bit of passion for my work back.

Life would be much easier if I could just shut up and keep invoicing, but you spend too long at work to completely sell out, switch off and take the money.
