I've walked out of interviews and got a phone call on my way home through the agent 30 minutes later that they want me. My interview was longer than 30 minutes so it's not that.
Yep - I've had calls from the agent while waiting for my train home / walking to my car after the interview. The client didn't offer me the gig while I was in the room as they were passing everything through the agent.

I've also had to wait a few days for a response while clients interviewed other candidates. I've been fairly lucky in that the main agent who has found me work has actually called me to tell me what's going on, and not to expect to hear anything for a couple of days.

For balance I have had a very different experience yesterday....

Agent calls, found CV on jobsite....looks like a promising match for a role I have in the pipeline (actually took time to read CV) and asks intelligent questions about roles and qualifies if I have specifics to the role he is working on.

All goes well....doesn't ask for references....does check passport details to ensure eligible to work.....and then sets up a face to face today as he wants to meet his senior candidates before feeling able to put them forward to clients so we are meeting today as he is on the way to the client site....hopefully he will be able to tell them he has found the ideal candidate!

I know the cynics may say he will just physhing, wasting my time, pumping me for info that he can use to impress the client yada yada, but without being positive and engaging with him there is no way of finding out...

A refreshing difference from the now 'normal' telesales approach. Reminds me of the old days!!!!!

Except if you're Psychocandy, when you need every spare minute for whinging on the forum!

                    +1

If you are on bench, you can either
a: twiddle your thumbs and do nothing, and passively wait for phone to ring

b: pick up the chuffing phone and call all your previous clients and "fish" for info about whether they would like you back for a gig

c: get agents to do the fishing for you
