    Little advice needed

    Hi all. I've been contracting for around 18 months, and although work has occasionally been hit and miss it has generally been an improvement over the usual 9-5 life.
    However, some months ago I suffered a mild stroke. I managed to complete the contract I was on satisfactorily but needed to take a recovery break after that. Now I'm raring to get back to it, there is little work available (my industry is very cyclical and I've missed the boat on the current round of jobs).
    There's the chance of a fixed term contract at a company which is due to run from Now (November) until March with the possibility of an extra 12 months for maternity cover.
    My question is, is there a good case I can give to the employer to hire me on a contract through my company rather than taking me on as a temporary employee? This would be my preference but I don't know the pros and cons from their side.

    The reason they have offered a FTC is cost. Permie level short term pay.

    Nothing wrong with asking them to take the total cost and turning it in a low (by our standards) day rate, so you can run it through your Ltd.

    Whether they accept is another matter.

      What is the point of putting it through your LTD. A FTC is a contract of employment so they want a permie which means the contract will be inside IR35 so there will be very little benefit putting through your LTD.

        This - you'd be better off leaving the company out of it and taking the FTC if you want / need to.

          Does the FTC include sick pay and any holidays? I know its quite a short contract and so many not include these, but going through LTD would remove these benefits.

            Not necessarily.

            I still reckon cost is probably the main issue, but NLUK is correct about the contract. Make sure it works for you from a true contractor point of view.
