I work through a small specialised consultancy and I know they do interview for potential roles. The consultancy has to be seen to be adding value to a client above bums on seats. If a new role is required and the consultancy get found out that they just having to get a bod from market the client is going to wonder why they don't just pay agent rates. The consultancy has to be seen to have a pool of resources that can get in quick so it's very much about the clients perception of them.

I have suggested a lady to the consultancy when a sniff of a role came up and they did interview her early without a role on the table but in this case it came off and she joined 3 weeks later. On the other hand I do know they have interviewed and the role evaporated. One thing they do not do however is just interview for the sake of it like some agents do and has been discussed on here.

So I would say what Cojak says. An interview with a consultancy is better than a shot in the dark and they will be much more likely to keep you in mind than an agent would so if it isn't going to be miles away and cost you too much it is worth going. It is not just an interview but a bit of networking as well.

He had a negative bluety on a quackhandle and was quadraspazzed on a lifeglug.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

The one thing you are forgetting is that you are a director of a LTD company looking for business. You obviously see yourself as a bum on seat contractor and no more. More deals are done on golf courses than in the board room. Relationships are a key part so if you made a good impression on they guy and he can see you can make him some money he will be back. Wouldn't be a bad move to drop him a line once in awhile for a coffee or just chat on the phone to keep you in his mind. Consultancies are a very different animal to agencies.

I've been reading books by Eckhart Tolle so forgive me but I don't see myself as anything.
            I am just by being.

Now that's off my shoulders, I do understand where you are coming from on this. I'll look to continue to build my relations with the consultancies and be less concerned with the agencies.

In this instance it turns out they do have a role in mind and I'll be seeing them on Monday.
Even if there role comes to nothing at least I have new relationship which could bear fruit later

Exactly. You never know, if he has a requirement of a couple of you there is a chance you could subcontract the whole team to him if it's sold properly and of benefit to him etc.
