Always found it amusing that the Nuclear Engineering Services (NES) building in Risley had all the H&S rules and more yet instead of lifts they had some antiquated revolving platform thing that was constantly going and you just stepped on and off to get between floors. Looked like an accident waiting to happen. I will bet my bottom dollar they don't have it now. Never got the hang of it and resorted to the stairs.

Transport companies are the same regarding blood alcohol limits - essentially zero for all staff on their premises. Christmas do this year was a bit of a downer!

Yep, last gig was a manufacturing and logistics co. All sites were dry, including head office - alcohol on any site was a sackable offence.

Had to do a written H&S exam before going onto each of the manufacturing sites. Only walk on marked paths, boots, safety goggles, ear muffs, hi-vis and beard doodaddy required in certain areas.

During a spell at a nuclear company

- after walking down some stairs with a Cisco switch under my arm I was turned round and told to go back up stairs and get the lift down
- was given a safety message of the day - at any time you could be asked what it was and if you didnt know it you were in trouble

I have a friend of mine who contracted there for about 12 months and its true... he would regale us of his tales of an H&S monitor who would stand on the stairwells checking that the handrail was being used and no hot drinks in hand!

Allegedy, it wasn't the most fun place to work. Parking seemed to have also been an issue (office on the South Coast).

Always, remember, always, look after the Invoicing and Collections...

Anyone worked for them? They seem to have an overly zealous health and safety regime there.

Follow yellow lines when walking around the building

Don't think I'd last 5 minutes.

I work for a different energy company and they do the same. It's normal practice and really not a big deal anyway to be honest.
