    SC Question

Hello, I have read the frequent asked questions and I can't see the answer to my question so I apologise if I have missed it.

I am hoping to be offered a role, I have a second interview for next week which requires security clearance.

I have been looking at the form online and I have a couple of queries.

The question regarding criminal records. - I had mis-spend youth, and did have a conviction and a couple of cautions when I was a child (all before I was 16). Then again I got a caution for theft of a motor vehicle when I was around 19.

Since then I have been a "model" citizen and now at the age of 37 I really can't remember the details of the convictions or cautions I had? How do I complete this form if I cannot remember??

Seconding the questions regarding being refused credit cards/loans in the past ten years. I am pretty sure myself or my partner, were refused at least once, but I really can't remember any details regarding these as it was so long ago.

So I guess my question is I know honestly is very important to ensure that SC is granted - and I hope my past will not jeapodise this, but how can I be honest if I genuinely don't remember?

    Thanks

You haven't really read the thread, have you?

The test is that you are honest and aren't hiding anything. The forms allow you to expand on any answers you may give. Also 10 years isn't that long ago, is your memory really that bad? More to the point, the authorities will make a couple of simple checks to find the truth, else what is the point of them asking: so why don't you do the same first?

All in all, not looking good, is it? Must try harder...

You won't find every single answer in the thread relating to exact situations but the general rule of thumb is explained in there many times over so I would suggest you go back and read the thread but this time actually think about it a little bit. It appears to be lucky for some posters that SC isn't declined/approved on the application of a bit of common sense.

Thanks for the replies even though one of them appears a bit harsh

My partner believe she was turn down for a credit card 8/9 years ago - but isn't sure excatly - its not really a something that stick in your mind.

I am not suggesting that I don't tell the truth, and if fact looked into getting an enhanced disclosure of my records - but this is only avaible to companies not individuals.

So I suppose all I can do on the form is declare I have had some convictions or cautions, 18 years ago or more - but that I cannot remember all the details?

That's the best you can do. Better than saying nothing to people who will know the answer...
