Then, as someone who makes the calls, what constitutes a better filter? And I DO need a better one, as I've taken at least 5-10 fishing calls for every contract I've gotten.

So? Does every sales enquiry end in a sale? It's business but then seems you are a permie I wouldn't expect you to understand. If you can't deal with some fishing calls quickly and then move on you are definitely not cut out.

Can't agree with that tbf. A few of my clients (including law firms) block their number for whatever reason. And the agent who got me my last contracting gig (the highest daily rate I'd ever gotten through contracting) always called from a withheld number. While you're right that agents on fishing trips almost always hide their number, withheld number calls can also be from a variety of different people.
Unfortunately I'm also being hassled by marketers on my phones. The blocking is to more to stop them ringing me but it hasn't stopped agents getting in touch with me.

Which i why I don't answer calls unless I expecting someone and let the answer phone filter them for me. If someone leaves a message I return the call otherwise I save some time. And if they are on the phone when I ring I'll answer any return calls assuming its not x hours later.
Which ignores my point I use the answer phone to filter calls. You then return the important calls immediately and ensure you're back at the top of the list.
As NLUK said..... It is not a war. If you behave like a dipstick, you will get dunked.
