Had an interview about 10 days ago. Just got an offer over the phone but its for a shorter period than as originally stated. Agreed to take the offer as the rate was good.

4 minutes 18 seconds later, get another call, offer withdrawn!

Do you think I can use this as evidence of 'risk' when fighting hmrc?
Depends. Did you manage to sub it out int the intervening period?

Let me fill you in with the facts.

Client had 2 vaccancies across 2 sites. 6 people were interviewed for the roles. In the meantime, the client advertised a low ranking position at one of the sites. The rate was £150 a day.

Going back to the original roles, no one was offered a role probably because the client didnt know what they wanted during the interview.

Agent phones me to say no one has been offered a role but, the client had offer me another role at one of the sites at the rate I was submitted for the original roles.

After speaking to me, the agent phoned back to say the offer had been withdrawn on the basis that the role offered was at less than half what I'd been submitted for and someone at the client was a fustercluck.

                A bit like you, really

So, really, you've no fracking idea what you're talking about.

Just got an email job alert from jobswerve. A role in Sheffield I know a client has had trouble filling because of the low rate is now being advertised as a permanent role

It looks like a number of clients are moving away from the contract model certainly in my specialism.

If you're not getting interviews after applying for roles it could be the client doesnt know what they want (as in this situation), rate expectations too high (I know, we need a decent rate to make it worthwhile), cv not cutting it (ask a couple of agents when sending it to them for their honest opinion of it) or any other reason.

You cant manage the other reasons but, you might be able to do something about rate and cv.

Above all, keep your chin up and apply for everything. If Im not suitable, I let the agent filter me out and you never know, you might catch their eye for another role.
