Offered role but Agent Wants me to take a Pay Cut...I smell tulip!
I just spoke to her and and told her that 'the drop of 17% was far away from what was initially agreed'. I was very firm with her about it and she asked if there was room to which I said 'no' as I had already been flexible in our initial disucssion.
She's gone away...to have a 'chat'.
Well done, asking you to take an almost £70 a day reduction is taking the pi$$ IMHO
However, the agent said that the client 'liked me' but they were unsure of my skills and as I would be picking up news skills on the role would I consider taking a 17% cut.
Ring the client (or tell the agent you want to speak to the client) regarding what they are "unsure" of.
Chaps you have all been marvellous, I'm seriously touched by your encouragement and great advice.
Update for you.....
Just got a phone call and the 'client' decided to go with someone cheaper.
It was b0llcks from the get go a total waste of my time! Considering it was a rate they advertised.
Makes my blood boil this. Did you find out who the client was? Are they a big corporate and is the agency one of the main ones? So much wrong with this I just don't know where to start.
'CUK forum personality of 2011 - Winner - Yes really!!!!
Referring back to my earlier post, and slightly off the main thrust of this thread, I now know how much the Client pays per day, and a few other assorted details - the Agency are coining it seriously on me!
Now, I am happy with the rate, well - if you ignore the £10 drop I referred to, but just goes to show how much a given Agent can generally manipulate the contractor et al. However, I do feel a bit 'conned' over it.....still, I stress again that I the rate still works for me, but....
Come extension time, I think I might be looking to 'reclaim' the £10 + a shed-load more

Client: is a well known vpn company
agency: Not sure, I think they are quite well known.
I'm so livid right now....words cannot describe how I feel.
I would love to name and shame but I don't want to break forum rules.

Do it. Don't let what happend to me put you off.
I worked out that extra £10pd times 22 working days (for a 30 day month) = £1100 per month you could have earned.
Times that by a 6 month contract, well you can do the math......
Well you never know, you may get another phone call in a day or 2...
